When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it completely altered how we do business. The whole workforce was sent home, and companies had to pivot fast. Now that society is moving back towards normal, employers are letting staff come back into the office. But, some workers aren’t ready to surrender the flexibility of working from home. So as a business, what do you do? Here are our top tips on how to navigate a hybrid workplace.
Digital Communication
Having streamlined communication is king for a hybrid working environment, but it’s not always easy. Our top digital communication methods and tips include:
- Using team management software such as Trello, Slack, or Asana, you can create projects, assign tasks, and message teammates to ask questions or get feedback.
-Utilize video chats when necessary. Video chats are excellent for large groups, but teams may feel burnout if they jump on a video call for every conversation. Zoom and Teams are great platforms; we also enjoy WebEx and Ring for conversations.
-Virtual Reality workplaces are a new up-and-coming technology. Facebook is getting ready to release its virtual workplace called Workroom.
-The classic email communication works great, too, as long as you’re not filling someone’s inbox with tons of emails each day.
Digital Security
Now that the workforce is more spread out, having a good security plan is key to protecting your business information and your employees. There are tons of security software and programs out there, and whatever you choose, we recommend having both antivirus and two-factor authentication implemented for maximum protection. For example, pairing something like Sophos antivirus software with Okta’s two-factor authentication system will cover all of your bases.
Digital Network
Set your employees up for success by ensuring everyone has access to the same files and everything on your network that they may need to do their jobs successfully. One of the best ways to share your network is through a VPN. A VPN is a safe way for your employees to access your network while keeping your data private at the same time.
