Cambridge Dictionary defines sustainability as “the quality of causing little or no damage to the environment and therefore able to continue for a long time.” At All West, we believe in making a positive impact for right now and the future. No environmental footprint is too small to make a difference. That’s why we make efforts to build a greener future for our communities. April is Earth Month, a month-long focus on sustainability and helping the planet. This April, we want to emphasize ways that we practice sustainability as a telecommunications business.

Rocky Mountain Power Blue Sky Program

Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky program is an initiative that focuses on supporting renewable energy. The Blue Sky program has existed for over 20 years. Its purpose is to reward businesses for their commitment to fine-tuning their energy usage. Renewable energy is energy that comes from natural sources that are continually replenishing. As a local business enrolled in the program, All West can reduce environmental impacts often associated with electricity use, while striving towards sustainability. Our participation in Blue Sky ultimately helps fund renewable energy projects in communities across Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.

Electronic Recycling

Another way we practice sustainability is through electronic recycling. According to Time Magazine, less than a quarter of all e-waste in the United States is actually being recycled. This poses environmental risks because harmful materials found in electronics are ending up in landfills. We do our part by recycling old and outdated electronic equipment, as well as traditionally recyclable items like paper and plastic. All West strives to continue to be more proactive in making a difference in our communities and the environment.

eBilling and Autopay

In an effort to reduce paper waste, electronic billing is an option for our customers. SmartHub, All West’s service portal, has options for both eBilling and AutoPay. These options provide a convenient way to pay your bill while providing a simple way to make a difference. At the end of 2021, 68% of our customers were signed up for eBilling. When you enroll in eBilling and AutoPay, we’ll give you a one-time $5 bill credit as a thank you for your efforts to go “green.” You can get the credit by logging into your SmartHub account, going to “Billing & Payments” at the top of the screen, choosing “Auto Pay Program,” and then signing up for AutoPay.

Caring about the environment doesn’t stop when Earth Month ends. At All West, we make sustainability part of our business decisions and hope our customers focus on their environmental footprint too. Because every connection counts, we are dedicated to making a more sustainable future for our communities.
